History

'Kendall's Farm Butchers was established over 40 years ago by the current owners Grandfather - Thomas Frederick Kendall.

Thomas was a Master butcher who worked for the famous CO-OP. He was a well respected Regional Butchery advisor, teacher and trainer based in Leeds. When the rare opportunity arose to buy a successful Butchers shop in the idyllic rural setting of Pateley Bridge in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire, Thomas leapt at the opportunity.

Thomas' son Ian was a young police officer in Leeds at the time. However Ian decided to leave the Police Force and follow in his father's footsteps with the prospect of country life and a unique, family run business. Ian became the unlikely apprentice and partner of the newly established T.F.N.Kendall & Son.

Thomas' wife Margaret and Ian's wife Linda both worked in the Bakehouse making Pork Pies, Pasties and Sausage Rolls which soon became famous throughout the area.

These traditional recipes and ways ofbaking are still held dear today and are what, we believe, make our pies so special and so famous today.

Paul Kendall (the son of Ian and grandson of Thomas Frederick Kendall) began work in the butchers shop as soon as he could be made use of! Through cleaning, baking butchering, Paul became passionate about both his family's business and the world of butchery as a whole.

Once Grandfather Thomas and then Father Ian retired Paul took over the reins of the shop. In a matter of years Paul had doubled the size of his shop in Pateley Bridge, purchased another shop in Harrogate and most recently, created his online shop. All sectors of Kendall's Farm Butchers continue to thrive and expand year upon year.

It is clear that butchering is ingrained into Paul Kendall and that his passion for butchery affects everything he and his staff create at these thriving shops. 'No compromise ever' is the motto he stands by. This certainly rings true when it comes to the vast array and quality of pies, meats and poultry products produced daily in store.

Paul has now got 2 children of his own, Francesca and Noah. So who knows? The family run history of Kendalls Farm Butchers sees no sign of slowing down! Watch this space.....

We are, of course, fortunate to be living and working in an area famous for its agriculture and resultant high quality products.
